CONCLUSION

In conclusion, women are more empowered and emancipated in TFA than ANH.

In terms of power within the film, (Sexual Politics) this is depicted by the position of the female protagonist; the participation in action; and the state of interpersonal relationships between men and women. Women are emancipated from the relationship of subordinance

and are free from the constrains of artificial gender norms.

Further, in terms of the portrayal towards the audience, (Male Gaze Theory) both within and without the film, there exists a stark differences in terms of costumes and poses; also in ANH, the female protagonist is codified as the male protagonist's love interest as a means of nullifying the threat posed by the female protagonist due to her lack of the male sexual organ. As women are no longer sexually objectified by serving as a source of sexual pleasure/fantasy or dehumanised by pandering to scopophilia, we can conclude that such non-conformance with gender stereotypes and the lack of existence of a patriarchy signifies that women are more empowered and emancipated in TFA than ANH.
